A friend and I thought it would be neat if we could create our own internet radio station! We would like to bbe able to make our own playlists, and possibly even be able to have our own shows and run the thing! I dont know if this is possible, but as far as I know, I have a friend that used to do something similar with some internet station, and he was really good at computers. Any idea how we might go about this? Is this even a possibility?
It can be done, but it requires a lot of hard work...Plus, to be honest, you'd only be addig to a market that is already flooded with competitors. You can do shows on othe stations and play what you want, we don't really playlist in internet radio.
try out shoutcast for that.
Well shoutcast has its stations, but we want to do the hard work! Lol!
Doesn't live365 have broadcasters? I no nothing about it though. lol
I believe it does, but I think u have to pay for it.
If you really want the hard work, and the thanklessness of doing such...then here is Nick G's guide to the best way to create an internet radio station.
Wow that does sound hard! But more than that, costly!
Well, i got on shoutcast.com because someone told me that might be my best bet! Any tips?
That is just a place where you can download a server, not where you can get free server hosting...That doesn't exist anymore. For paid server hosting, again contact me, as I do tend to charge at below market value.
So what would be the point of downloading a server? I am just trying to do something for a small group of people, not really somthing to compete out there with!
You can have your own server on your system for practice, or it's also good if you just want to have it for a few friends like you said. Just make sure you have sufficient upstream to do it.
Yeah, that's what I do. Works pritty well. Besides, SHOUTcast plugin and the DSP plugin for Winamp are free. It takes some time to get it set up, but once donee, it's not that hard. Also, ya gota go into your router and make sure your ports *probably 8000 or whatever else you wana use) are forwarded correctly *ya only need one.)
HTH,

Oh gosh that sounds complicating! How would I know? Also I use an unsecured wireless signal, so i dont have a router.
Hmm...I just remembered something that may solve your problem. THis is really bad, but it exists. Listen2MyRadio
You do in fact have a router, cause if you didn't, ya wouldn't have woreless. It might be a modem/router thungy though...
HTH
Actually she doesn't if she's using a neighbor's wireless, or something.
Yeah true...
Actually this is an unsecured wireless network, but I guess whoever owns this particular network probably has a router, but nothing I have access to.
